5/8 x 23 foot Cotton Rope Mecate, has 12 inch replaceable leather poppers, turkshead knot on one to retard unraveling, and a spliced eye on the other. With the addition of a snap, can be used for a nice lunge line. I know there are many old time vaqueros rolling over in their graves, when I refer to a piece of rope as a mecate, this is a far stretch from hand braided horsehair, but I hear they are great for trail riding. The cotton is not rough on your hands like horsehair, and will not burn like nylon. I use the highest quality cotton rope, it is very smooth without a bunch of threads sticking out. At half the cost of a horsehair mecate, you won't break into tears when your horse breaks the lead.
